In a Regional Confirmation (Confirmation where several Parishes are participating), where should the sacrament be recorded? (Sacramental Handbook pgs 7 and 17) Sacraments are recorded in the parish the sacrament was received NOT in the parish the child received instruction, or the parish the child’s parents are members.
When do I contact the Parish of Baptism? (Sacramental Handbook pg 18) All sacraments need to be recorded in the baptismal register. It is the responsibility of the parish where sacraments are received to notify the parish of baptism so these records can be kept up to date. If a person was received into the Church after baptism (a convert), the notification of subsequent sacraments are to be sent to the parish where they joined the Church.
How do I record a convert from another Christian Faith? (Sacramental Handbook pg 13) When an (already baptized) convert joins the Church, a new record is created in the Baptismal record where the person joined the Church. In the Baptismal register it is stated where the baptism took place (ex: Trinity Lutheran Church and the date of the baptism) Usually a person is confirmed when they convert. This should be recorded in both the baptismal register, and the confirmation register. Any sacraments received later (such as marriage or ordination) should be recorded in the baptismal register where the person joined the Church.
