The Diocese of Fargo was established in 1889 and comprises 30 counties in eastern North Dakota. Today there are over 73,000 registered Catholics out of a total population of 421,288 (17%). There are 127 priests (including active, retired and those serving outside the diocesan area), 42 permanent deacons, 76 religious sisters and 130 parishes in the diocese.
