The Office of Catechesis

Bishop Folda has approved the use of Alive in Christ by Our Sunday Visitor as the main textbook series to be used in the Diocese of Fargo, grades 1-8th.  Parishes may begin using this series in the fall of 2017 with full implementation by fall of 2018.

Visit the Special Needs page for catechetical resources for persons with special needs.

Adult Catechesis

Catechesis of adults is the principal (first) form of catechesis because it is “addressed to the persons who have the greatest responsibility and the capacity to live the Christian message in its fully developed form” (Pope John Paul II, Catechesi Tradendae 43). Visit the Adult Catechesis page for a list of programs, small faith-sharing groups and other opportunities for adults.

Catechesis of Children and Youth

The Parish Catechesis Manual and Curriculum Guidelines gives the diocesan policy for catechesis, has guideliness for adult catechesis, curriculum for grades K–12, recommendations for textbooks and many other resources for catechesis of persons of all ages. The Sacramental Preparation page has resources for children preparing for the reception of sacraments.

The Diocese of Fargo also requires Safe Environment instruction for students in parish Religious Education programs and Catholic Schools.

Parishes can invite a Young Disciples team to come to their parish for a week-long summer camp.

Fargo Catechetical Institute

The Diocese of Fargo Catechetical Institute provides certification programs for the formation of catechists, as well as other resources .
